10 Countries With A Perfect Climate And Low Cost Of Living

If you live in Canada and the United States, you've probably noticed a trend: cost of living keeps climbing higher and higher. Here in Oregon, there's a full blown housing crisis. There are many countries around the world where a perfect, year-round climate meets a low cost of living. Here are ten to check out if you're looking for a temporary or permanent spot to relocate:

Mexico

Like any country, some parts of Mexico are nicer and safer than others. One favorite spot for expats is Puerto Vallarta, where you can live for as little as $1,200 USD per month. The average rent for a nice, two bedroom apartment is just shy of $600. The climate is perfect year round, the coasts are glorious, and there's no shortage of things to do.

Panama

Just a bit further south is Panama. When many of us think about central America, we picture a place not as developed as where we live now. But that's a huge misconception.

Panama City is a modern metropolis with fast internet, solid infrastructure, and the people there feel positively toward foreigners. It's surrounded by tall mountains and lush, dense rainforests.

Rent in Panama City ranges from $375 to $1,200 USD on the higher end.

Ecuador

Situated on the equator, Ecuador is a top pick if you really desire warm weather.

The country features mountains which allows you to determine how hot or cool you want your home to be. Want cooler weather? Just go higher!

Ecuador, like Panama, has solid infrastructure and a superb healthcare system as well. The cost of living for a couple is about $1,500 USD.

Colombia

Just to the east of Ecuador sits Colombia, a large country that a few decades ago made a name for itself as an unsafe place. Fortunately today, Colombia is a significantly safer place to be for locals and foreigners alike. Internet and infrastructure is solid, and in the cities, apartments are cheap. They can be rented anywhere from $500 to $1,500 per month.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a popular vacation spot for people in North America and around the world, but it's also an excellent spot to relocate permanently. It's a fairly laid back country. Visas are easy to get and a couple can live there easily for $3,000 a month.

Malaysia

Let's get out of the Western Hemisphere all together and check out some spots in Asia. Malaysia is hot. Not just in climate, but in its growing economy. The nation has a good quality of health care, the cities tend to be clean, public transit is awesome, and the food is great too. It also features fast internet and solid infrastructure.

Spain

Some parts of Spain are pretty pricey, but especially when you start looking toward southern Spain, things become more affordable. Spain is one of the least expensive places to live in Europe, where in Valencia, for example, one can easily survive on about $2,000 USD per month.

Nicaragua

If you live on the cheap, a couple can get away living on about $1,500 USD per month in Nicaragua. THe cliamte is awesome, the infrastructure isn't the best but it's rapidly improving. The country is safe and the quality of food is good. Plus the natural environment is incredible. There are dense jungles, pristine beaches, and even volcanoes to explore.

Portugal

Like Spain, Portugal is one of the less expensive places to live in Europe. It has a pleasant, Mediterranean climate and vibe, but it does tend to run a bit more expensive than Spain. On average, you can live in Lisbon for about $2,200 USD per month.

Malta

Last on our list is Malta, and often overlooked country that consists of two islands between Sicily and North Africa. The islands take only about a half an hour to drive across, but the climate is amazing and the cost of living is low. A two bedroom apartment in Sliema, for example, is about $800 USD. The cost of living decreases in the countryside.
